GREYHOUND ADOPTION GROUPS
Note that some adoption groups (not most of those listed here) are funded and controlled by the racing industry itself, not by volunteers. Although this means the industry is doing something for ex-racers, sometimes industry concerns take precedence over the interests of the dogs and their carers.
For example, the anti-racing content of this site has generated a surprisingly furious reaction from the industry-funded adoption group from which I got Wynny and Rosie.
Australia:
It is also confusing that the same acronym is used by groups with different affiliations to the racing industry. For example, "GAP NSW" refers to both the industry-funded group and a volunteer group with no financial ties to the racing industry. If in doubt, check the full name, because "Greyhounds as Pets” is the name used by the industry-run groups around Australia.
